Library

The college library is RFID (Radio Frequency Identification system) enabled, which is being used for library housekeeping operation, the system move beyond security to become tracking system that combine security with more efficient tracking of materials throughout the library, including easier and faster charge and discharge, inventorying, material handling and automated book droop kiosk being used for easier return of books. The RFID system included self-circulation desk, staff work station, security gate, book droop box, RFID reader, RFID sticker for Book, RFID enabled member card, SMS and e-mail services in each book transaction.

The College library has more than 20500 printed books and approx. 1,35,000 e-books, 11 printed journals and many scientific encyclopedia and periodicals covering all aspect of fundamental science, such as Electronics, Instrumentation, Food Technology, Computers Sciences, Psychology, Management, Microbiology, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics etc.

The library subscribes to a large number of Electronics Resources through UGC-Infonet,DULIS Electronic Journal and NLIST of Inflibnet, Its includes 11 Online Databases on Reference & Citation Sources, 7 online Databases on Bibliographic Sources, 2 Online Databases on Citation Analysis Resources, 5 online Databases on Financial and Statistical Sources, Single databases on Doctoral Theses and 77 online Databases on Full Text Sources. This includes around 49270+ ejournalsavailable in the present library with three WiFi computer laboratories consisting of 80 computers i.e. e-Library-1, e-Library-2 and e-Library-3.

Then in the process of digitization, the library has digital materials on its institutional repositories like New Product Development done by the 3rd year student of Food Technology, Other Important project reports, question paper, syllabus were also digitized by the library.

Ground Floor

The ground floor has is reading room as well as text and reference sections. The reference books are not be issued. Those books can be consulted in the ground floor only. The text book is issued for overnight after 3.30 p.m. every working day.

e-library –1 of the ground floor is exclusively for the first year students only.

First Floor

The following subject books are available in the first floor i.e.

All the users are expected to observe the following rules while using library facilities in the college:

  • Student should bring their I-Card before entering the library. No student shall be allowed entry in the library if she does not show her I-Card at the entry point.
  • Student should check the books before leaving the issue counter at the issue time and report if it is damaged or pages are torn. In case if the book is found damaged at the time of return, the student will be responsible for paying damage charges.
  • Overnight issue books are issued from 3:30 P.M. and returnable at 10:30 A.M. on the mentioned date.
  • Books should be returned on due date, failing which student will be liable to pay fine at the rate of Rs.2 per day up to fine days. After five days of fine periods, student transaction will be block for a month.
  • The loss of library card should immediately be reported to the Library staff.
  • Any kind of making or underlining on the books, tearing of its pages, is punishable offence and that may reflect in your character certificate.
  • In case any student is found stealing books or other articles from the library or belonging of other students to be punished.
  • Before and after consulting books in any section or reading Magazine/Journals in reading room, please keep it in its proper place.
  • Please do not change the placement of chairs in the library.
  • If you notice any students practicing unfair activities (tearing of pages) in the library, please report to Library staff/ Principal.
  • Please do not hesitate in consult the Library staff in case of any problem whatsoever.
  • Please co-operate with us, we ensure you the best of library services.

Rules for e-Library:

  • Student can access a selection of web sites and reference CD-ROMs.
  • Downloaded Images or pdf file are needed to be kept in the self-email ID, saving it on the hard disk is not allowed.
  • Use of any external storage media is not allowed.
  • Browsing objectionable sites is punishable offence.
  • Copying of any kind of information from the web and saving it on the hard disk is not allowed.
  • Chatting tools are not allowed while using the internet.

The Library, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women in collaboration with the University of Delhi Empanelled Book Vendors is regularly organizing the Physical Exhibition to provide an open platform to institute fraternity to visit, choice, review, recommend and procure the books displayed by the vendors.This year it organized physical book exhibition on 12 th March, 2024, during the exhibition, the empanelled vendors setup stalls with their latest editions of published books including textbooks and references from the leading publishers like Springer, Elsevier, CRC Press, Wiley, etc. to attract visitors.The College faculty and students visited the stalls and reviewed book contents. The faculty also took advantage of the opportunity provided and recommended books for benefit of students.The main aim of book exhibition is not only getting recommendations but it can also play an important role in developing the reading habit among professionals and bringing the institute community together.

Objectives

  • To provide an open platform to institute faculty members/students and staff members to know recent editions of published books on their subject area/discipline.
  • To facilitate to review and recommend the books for the library to strengthen the collection.
  • To facilitate faculty members to procure the books using recommendation form.
  • To facilitate the institute community to buy the books from the personal funds on University of Delhi approved discounted rates.
  • To develop the reading habits among institute fraternity.
