The B. Sc. (Hons.) course in Biomedical Science has been developed in response to the growing demand for trained and skilled manpower in the field of Biomedical Sciences. The course is not only based on a self reliant curriculum and meant to be employment oriented but also provides meaningful education keeping in view the needs of both the society and the students.
The students in this course are trained in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics, Pharmacy, Pharmaceuticals, Medicinal Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Techniques etc. and related fields. The students graduating from this course will be able to |
 |
seek jobs in the pharmaceutical industry and in clinical research laboratories.
The Government of India has made environmental auditing of industries and hotels mandatory, but due to lack of trained manpower in this area, perhaps it has not been able to implement it as desired. The students trained in environment toxicology, physiology and auditing will have expertise in the monitoring of pollution and pollution agents and their harmful effects. This will qualify them to work as inspector/ auditors for the certification of the industries.
This course will also open up avenues for self-employment such as setting up one's own clinical laboratory, freelance license inspectors for pollution control in industries, setting up of a biotechnology unit for production of commercially viable products etc. The degree will open endless vistas for those interested in research in the field of medicine, biotechnology, microbiology, pharmacology and other allied fields.
The college has all the requisite modern equipments, adequate infrastructural facilities and trained manpower for conducting organized research and training activities.
Infrastructure
The college, with its dedicated faculty has an excellent infrastructure, with laboratories equipped with the latest state of the art Electronic and Analytical instruments like the Gas Liquid Chromatography, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography, UV Visible Spectrophotometer, PCR machine, ELISA Readers, Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscope, Human Analyzer, to name a few, and utility software like Biopac (physiological data acquisition system).
